NCLEX Study Plan: Week by Week Guide to Passing
NCLEX prep can feel overwhelming — especially when you're not sure where to start. The secret to passing isn't studying harder, it's studying smarter with a clear week-by-week plan. Here's a proven schedule you can follow.
Weeks 1–2: Build Your Foundation
Start with the fundamentals. Cover basic nursing concepts, safety, infection control, and health promotion. Don't try to memorize — focus on understanding the why behind nursing actions.
Our Fundamental Essentials Nursing Bundle is perfect for this stage — 150+ pages with quiz bonus covers included.
Weeks 3–4: Med-Surg and Pharmacology
These two topics make up the largest portion of NCLEX. Spend two weeks going deep on medical-surgical nursing and pharmacology drug classes. Review at least one body system per day.
Use our Comprehensive Nursing School Bundle to cover all systems efficiently with hyperlinked navigation.
Weeks 5–6: Specialty Areas
Focus on OB/maternity, pediatrics, mental health, and critical care. These often catch students off guard on NCLEX because they require different clinical thinking than med-surg.
Week 7: Lab Values, EKG, and Calculations
Dedicate this week entirely to lab values, EKG rhythms, and dosage calculations. These are high-yield NCLEX topics that reward consistent daily practice.
Our EKG Stickers Bundle makes cardiac rhythm review fast and visual.
Week 8: Full Practice Tests and Review
Stop studying new content. Spend this week taking full NCLEX practice tests under timed conditions, reviewing every wrong answer, and identifying patterns in your mistakes.
The Night Before
